'What a tremendous show this was at the Generator!
I am sad to see it go so quickly. Countless people were positively influenced by these pieces on our walls. You all are an incredible organization and I'm abslutely honored to have housed art by Faith Artists. Thank you for sharing this talent with us and our communtiy"

Faith Artists is a group of like-minded (more so, like-hearted) Christians who create visual art. They discovered that, unless rooted in the same God, they could not glorify Him or share truth with the world around in creative ways. They discovered that their deepest love cannot be art, but Jesus Christ. “We delight in Him by creating art,” shares founder, Kendra Walden.
While an exhibition theme of C.S. Lewis and his works was challenging, Faith Artists found it very inspiring! Dawn Waters Baker, a Faith Artists Board member explains, “Who doesn’t respect the name of Lewis, secular and Christian alike? We felt a need to keep our art approachable, something for even the unbeliever to enjoy. C.S. Lewis is one of the best examples of thinker and artist wrapped in a strong faith in Christ. Not only was he able to write apologetically about his faith in works like, Mere Christianity but Lewis was also able to turn for refreshment of his faith to that which had enlivened and enchanted it in the first place: to myth, to story (Carissa Smith’s article, Alan Jacobs’ The Narnian: The Life and Imagination of C.S. Lewis). His works really paint so many pictures, everything from Screwtape Letters and Chronicles of Narnia to The Great Divorce which pulls you into a world that can be felt and experienced. ”
“At Lewis’ core was an artist who found the enchantment of story to be his way of compelling the world to Christ. Faith Artists hopes to do the same as we share art from artists who are serious about creating and happen to be Christians. We hope to enliven and captivate the world around us with the visual narrative of Lewis’ incredible works,” Dawn shares.
As an added feature to the exhibit experience, Dr. David Naugle, Distinguished University Professor and Chair of Philosophy at Dallas Baptist University, will deliver a lecture on May 17, 2012, based on the topic, “With Their Christianity Latent” which comes from the passage in Lewis’ work, “God in the Dock”. He shares, “What we want is not more little books about Christianity, but more little books by Christians on other subjects-‘with their Christianity latent’.”

Art, music, and literature awaken us to the alluring beauty of the destiny of greater things. But, as C.S.Lewis cautions,"The book, music (and I,Linda, would add art)in which we thought the beauty was located will betray us if we trust to them; it was not in them, it only came through them, and what came through them was longing...They are not the thing itself; they are only the scent of a flower we have not found, the echo of a tune we have not heard, news from a country we have never visited."
Kendra, the gold in your painting points to the place,Heaven, where we Christian Believers someday will go, through the grace of God. PTL! --Linda Brown

A guest viewing work at Highland Park Presbyterian Church ONE Gallery comments, " I have a varied art collection but nothing based on scripture." "After seeing this collection of faith based art, I am now inspired to consider artwork that will remind me daily of scripture as I passs by,perhaps placed where I do my devotions." "It might also serve to open a conversation with a non believing guest who visits my home."

After all was said and done today, I took a moment to stop and look at the exhibit. It is so diverse, so beautiful and reflects an abundance of love for Christ and for our fellow citizens in His world. I see people being lifted and hearts being touched. I see us growing and sharing and expanding to reach others. I see God’s hands holding the dream we share. What a wonderful thing. Thank you for the blessings you each are and for the opportunity to serve in this way. This is good.
Love to you all –
Cindy Norris
